Membership dues are based on the calendar year (January 1–December 31).

Active

Active Members consist of physicians, surgeons, providers and medical researchers engaged in or with an interest in minimally invasive and innovative cardiothoracic and vascular surgery.

Category:

Allied Health

Allied Health Members consist of those members of the Society who are non-physician members such as perfusionists, nurses, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, practice administrators, data managers and other health care professionals who support and work directly with cardiothoracic and vascular surgeons.

Category:

Fellow

Fellow Members consist of those members of the Society who have had three or more years of clinical training in a general surgery residency program approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education or an equivalent accrediting body. A Fellow Member may continue his or her fellow status for up to two years after completion of his or her training.

Medical Student

Medical Student Members consist of those members of the Society who are currently undergoing clinical training in a general surgery program (residents with two or less years of residency) approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education or an equivalent accrediting body. A Medical Student Member will be asked to upgrade to Residency Member status upon completion of their medical school.

Resident

Resident Members consist of those members of the Society who are currently undergoing clinical training in a general surgery program (residents with two or less years of residency) approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education or an equivalent accrediting body. A Resident Member will be asked to upgrade to Active Member status upon completion of their third year of general surgery residency.

Category:

Senior/Disabled

Senior/Disabled Members shall consist of those members of the Society who have reached the age of sixty-five or those that are disabled and are not yet 65 and who have requested a transfer to Senior Membership.

Requests must be made in writing to the Secretary of the Society by emailing info@ismics.org.

Qualifying requests shall be approved administratively by the Secretary without requiring a vote of the Board of Directors or the Annual Meeting. Senior Members shall be exempt from paying membership dues and may not vote or hold office.
